Reparative Panels
Reparative Panels are a form of community-sponsored
probation that brings convicted offenders before a volunteer board
of citizens as part of their sentencing process.
The panel works with offenders and their victims
by
exploring the following:
-
Who has been harmed?
- What
are their needs?
- What
needs to happen in order to repair the harm
or begin to make things right?
- What
does the offender need to learn in order to
avoid re-offending?
Offenders will form a contract with the panel
that has him/her addressing the above questions. That contract
must be completed within 90 days.
Victims are contacted by the BCJC and are invited
to be a part of the process either through direct participation
or by some other means that meets the victim’s needs.
Reparative
Panels meet monthly.
BCJC administers three panels that meet on the following schedule:
Third Tuesday 11:00am-1:00pm
Third Thursday 7:00pm – 9:00 pm
First Friday 3:00pm-5:00pm
