Victim Response Team
A parallel justice program for victims of burglary
September 20, 2005 This program is still in the development phase. Please contact us for further information.
Victims of burglary often experience fear, a lack of safety, financial distress, hyper- vigilance, a diminished sense of pleasure in
life, frustration and anger toward the police and a loss of faith in the justice system. Unless an offender has been apprehended and the services of a victim advocate have been offered
most people will not know where to turn for help.
In collaboration with members of the First Baptist Church and the local victims’ advocates, BCJC offers the Victim
Response Team, VRT, – a program designed to deliver parallel justice to victims of burglary in the greater Brattleboro area. The VRT assists these victims by providing them with
a team of trained volunteers from the community that respond immediately by:
In addition, the VRT coordinator assists by: enlisting the help of family, neighbors or friends; and providing information
about who to contact to get specific answers regarding their particular case.
If you or someone you know has been a victim of a burglary please call and inquire how we can be of service.
