Mediation Program

Mediators at the Brattleboro Community Justice Center are trained to help people:

  • identify what needs to be fixed
  • explore the various possible solutions
  • evaluate the choices available
  • choose an outcome that satisfies both parties
  • make sure the meeting is safe and orderly
  • be heard and have a chance to speak

We are trained to help with conflicts such as:

  • Landlord-tenant or tenant-tenant
  • Co-workers
  • Police Complaints
  • Family
  • Elder-care
  • Neighbor-to-Neighbor

And more!

In addition, our staff can assist groups in engaging public dialogue and group problem-solving.

These services are free to the community.

Although we currently are without a Coordinator for the Mediation Program, we have a group of trained volunteers whose services are available. Please direct all inquires to Cate Woolner at cate@brattleborocjc.org or (802) 251-8140.

Quote of the Month

Of course I am obligated, by compassion and a common humanity, to help others. But this does not mean I should do for them what they ought to do for themselves. I have no right to deprive anyone else of the challenge to meet his own responsibility.
